Potawatomi kansas

The United States pressured the Potawatomi to cede their land in Indiana, and cessions in 1836 involved promises that the Indians would leave Indiana. In 1838, 850 Potawatomi from Yellow River were moved into a camp, held there, then forced to travel west to Kansas. Many died on the way. Their trek became known as the Trail of Death.
